Finally a good movie soundtrack has come out this year. Almost Alice, the soundtrack to Tim Burton’s new film Alice in Wonderland takes you on a great musical journey of its own.
You’ll will get an overall final rating out of five at the end but I wanted to start by giving you guys the track listing, and an individual rating for each song first.
1. “Alice“ Avril Lavigne – 2.5/5
2. “The Poison“ The All-American Rejects – 3/5
3. “The Technicolor Phase“ Owl City – 4/5
4. “Her Name Is Alice“ Shinedown – 4.5/5
5. “Painting Flowers“ All Time Low – 4/5
6. “Where’s My Angel“ Metro Station – 4.5/5
7. “Strange“ Tokio Hotel and Kerli – 3.5/5
8. “Follow Me Down“ 3OH!3 and Neon Hitch – 4/5
9. “Very Good Advice“ Robert Smith (The lead singer from the Cure) – 3.5/5
10. “In Transit“ Mark Hoppus and Pete Wentz (Bassists from Blink 182 and Fallout Boy) – 5/5
11. “Welcome to Mystery“ Plain White T’s – 3.5/5
12. “Tea Party“ Kerli – 3.5/5
13. “The Lobster Quadrille“ Franz Ferdinand – 3.5/5
14. “Always Running Out of Time” Motion City Soundtrack – 4/5
15. “Fell Down a Hole“ Wolfmother – 4/5
16. “White Rabbit“ Grace Potter and the Nocturnals – 4/5
My first impression of this CD was “Wow.” This first impression came from looking at the track list. Then I went ahead and put it in my CD player, and the impression continued. Not all of all the songs on the CD were written purely for the album; actually about half of these are new songs. Disney out did themselves putting this album together. A few of the songs I really liked were the ones by Owl City, Metro Station, 3OH!3 and my personal favorite is a compilation from Mark Hoppus and Pete Wentz, the respective bass players from fan favorites Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy.
Many of the bands threw together songs based off of the movie, so, you will find an odd mixture of dance almost drug induced themes, such as Metro Station, 30H!3 and Kerli. Then you will find a few creepy songs from Robert Smith (Lead singer from the Cure) and Franz Ferdinand. Then of course you will get your basic mixture of more mainstream songs from Avril Lavigne, Tokio Hotel and Plain White T’s. However, my favorite songs were the more rock like songs by Shinedown, Wolfmother, Motion City Soundtrack, and the Blink Fall Out mixture. Overall I was extremely impressed by pretty much every song except one (you can look at the individual scores to see which). It’s a great CD and I would recommend it to anyone. My final score for “Almost Alice” a respectable 4 out of 5

Remember when the Plain White T’s were good? Me either, it was so long ago.
