Trailer: ‘G.I. Joe: Retaliation’ Trailer is Super Bad-Ass
The G.I. Joe: Retaliation trailer has gone online and surprise, it looks awesome! But we’ve been fooled before, cough, cough, 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. So don’t get excited too soon.
Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe sequel has added action stars Dwayne Johnson and the always happy to smirk at you Bruce Willis to class things up a little. After the trailer gets through the pesky business of telling you what the new film is about, insane action commences to the tune of a funkafied remix of Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes. And the action is spectacular with huge explosions, gun play and a bunch of Ninjas sword fighting while swinging on ropes on the side of a cliff.
This film looks fun but there’s a lot more than just fun on the line for Director Chu. This is his first stab at directing a big studio tentpole and hopeful summer Blockbuster. Sure he directed the mega money maker, Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, but I give the credit of the documentaries success to the hoards of Beiber fan.
Along Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis’ characters, G.I. Joe 2 adds Zartan (Arnold Vosloo), Storm Shadow (Lee Byung-hun), Firefly (Ray Stevenson) and Lady Jaye (Adrianne Palicki). The star of the first film, Channing Tatum returns as Captain Duke Hauser, but don’t blink while watching the trailer because you’ll miss him. The film hits theaters June 29, 2012.
