Deadline is reporting there is a high interest to get Kevin Costner to play a key role in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman: Man of Steel film. No word on who Costner would play yet but I’d say he’s up for a role in big movie. It’s been a while since he’s been part of a big tent project and this is as big as any.

Costner was so great in the 90’s with movies like JFK, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Tin Cup and Dances with Wolves, it would be cool to see him get in the middle of it all again.  So, could Costner be a villain, a hero or maybe even a certain newspaper editor? Costner would join Henry Cavill (The Tudors), who was recently cast as the Man of Steel himself.

The Superman reboot is being produced by Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder for Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures. David S. Goyer wrote the script based on a story by Goyer and Nolan. The film is expected to hit theaters in December 2012.
