‘Godzilla’ Stomping To Your Screen Again

So after the horrible Matthew Broderick 1998 Godzilla I thought it would be near impossible to lift the creature back from the dead.
I should not have been so naive, I mean what movie franchise has not finally sucked and then been brought back to life a few years later? In an era when franchises are getting the reboot treatment quicker and quicker this one had to be on the way. Look at both Spider-Man and Superman getting a reboot less than four years after their respective bad outings.
Anyway back to Godzilla, I’m a little embarrassed to admit but I didn’t see the original 1954 Japanese feature Gojira until last summer. It was enjoyable to see the beginning of the venerable franchise and how the beast came about.
So getting back to the news, Legendary Pictures will be rebooting the franchise and bringing it to theatres in 2012, I’m guessing look for a summer release. The Studio is planning on making a film faithful to the original and not a follow up to the 1998 Broderick film. Thank you. (Variety)
