Filmpopper Review: The Avengers
The first summer blockbuster has finally hit theaters. The Avengers is one of the most anticipated movies of 2012, as it brings together the superstar or heroic cast of several other super hero movies. The Avengers features Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson).
The story follows these super heroes as they are assembled, believe it or not things do not go right and egos and opinions begin to arise making half of the battle of The Avengers an internal conflict, and more than just stopping the evil bad guy out to enslave all of humanity and conquer the earth.
There were quite a few things I liked about this movie. The cast, as I already discussed is an all-star appearance. Every actor has been perfectly cast and plays their role amazingly. The action scenes in the movie were not monotonous or drawn out and each was unique allowing new experiences. The story, while not amazingly strong or unique was exactly what one would expect from a superhero movie. Villain must be stopped, heroes must stop him. The accompanying soundtrack was also epic to say the least and played well on the emotions running through out the film.
The only downside to the movie could possibly be it’s length; the movie is over 2 hours long, though I personally did not notice the length of the movie.
I was very impressed with the movie. I had high expectations and they were certainly met. All the things that I was afraid of happening or going wrong simply didn’t and the movie was a joy to watch. While it might not be everyone’s style, I’m awarding Avengers an A. Awesome movie, hilarious, exciting, and full of memorable characters and moments.
