Filmpopper Review: Apollo 18
Apollo 18 is out. Perhaps the last movie I was really excited to see this summer. The story follows three astronauts on the “Apollo 18” mission. Needless to say if we look in the history books there was no Apollo 18, and this story tells us why.
Shot from the point of view of several cameras attached to the spaceship and placed around outside it has a “Paranormal Activity” feel to it. The movie starts off by claiming that this was footage that had been leaked online.
I don’t want to dive too much into the story because I feel that it is a surprise that must be kept. I will say that the three main actors all did an amazing job. The cinematography was excellent as well and kept you on the edge of your seat without blinking.
The movie was a great thriller and I really have no complaints whatsoever. It is what it is. Wasn’t mean to be funny. Wasn’t meant to be charming. Was meant to make you jump and make you squirm, and it does just that, and does it well I might add.
My expectations weren’t extremely high and to be honest I wasn’t really sure what to expect. In the end however, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I really liked this movie. I feel that whoever is in the need of a good jump or scare needs to head on over to a theater and check it out. I award Apollo 18 an A-.
