While NBC passed on The Farm, the Dwight Schrute (Rainn Wilson) led spin-off of The Office, we will get to see a version of the pilot episode. The show would have followed Dwight Schrute who would have supposedly quit his job at Dunder Mifflin to run his beet farm and bed and breakfast inn.
According to The Office producer, Greg Daniels, The Farm pilot was good enough to turn into an episode of The Office before the series comes to a close in spring 2013.
Daniels told TVLine,
“The Office outing that was intended to serve as The Farm‘s first installment is “a very good episode” and confirmed that it will air before The Office‘s series finale in 2013.
“We’re not going to air exactly what it was, because it has certain aspects that were appropriate for a pilot of a new show,” he says. “We’re going to shoot a little additional material to make it fit into the season more.”
Daniels also said that since Dwight wont have to leave Dunder Mifflin for his farm that he and Angela may have a happy ending after all.
