Catch ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Prologue on IMAX Screens Before ‘Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol’

A “trusted source” told /Film last week that Warner Bros. plans to attach a six minute prologue of The Dark Knight Rises to IMAX prints of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol that hits theaters in limited release on Dec. 16. This will be a great boost for Mission: Impossible, Brad Bird’s (Ratatouille, The Incredibles) first live action film. But really, after the critical success of Mission: Impossible III, I’m sure it would do just fine without adding a teaser for Christopher Nolan’s third and final Batman film, but definitely wont hurt either.

AMC Theaters followed up with news that the footage will only screen on the higher resolution 70mm IMAX screens and not the digital IMAX screens. So you better head out and find a 70 mm IMAX screen by December 16th if you want to get an early glimpse of what is going to be an amazing conclusion to what I’m already calling the best superhero trilogy of all time. (AMC has pulled the info off their site and now asks you to refer Warner Bros. for any information about The Dark Knight Rises.)

Warner Bros. also released a prologue for The Dark Knight in front of I Am Legend back in 2008.

Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol opens in wide release on December 21, while The Dark Knight Rises wont hit theaters until July 20, 2012.
