According to Deadline, Eva Green is confirmed to play the witch, Angelique opposite Johnny Depp’s vampire, Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows. Tim Burton is directing the film adaptation of the 60s supernatural TV soap opera. In the old Dark Shadows television show, Green’s character was a powerful witch who tormented and bewitched Depp’s character in their love-hate relationship.
Green is probably best know for playing the elegant Bond Girl, Vesper Lyndin in Casino (2006). She can next be seen in the Sundance romantic thriller Perfect Sense with Ewan McGregor.
Dark Shadows will also star Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcoate. The screenplay was written by Seth Grahame-Smith, who also wrote the novel and screenplay for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, currently in preproduction. And as for Depp and Burton, this is the 1000th film they have collaborated on.
