Ellen Page returns for X Men Days Of Future PastBryan Singer announced via twitter today that Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore are all returning to the franchise for X-Men: Days Of Future Past. This is starting to sound less and less like a sequel to X-Men: First Class.

The three join First Class cast members Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy and original X-Men trilogy veterans Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart. I can deal with Paquin and Ashmore but Ellen Page is so boring on screen I may have to use my Run Pee app to skip her scenes.

As Singer adds more of cast from his X-Men films to this movie it seems like he may being trying to finish the story he started with X-Men and X2 (X-Men 2: X-Men United). It’s no secret that Singer wanted to direct X3 (X-Men: The Last Stand) but his love of Superman drew him away from the franchise. He even offered to direct the third film in the franchise if Fox would’ve pushed back  the X3 start date until after he wrapped Superman.

I don’t blame the studio for putting up out X3 when they did but I think they produced a lesser product when they moved on without singer.

Now that Singer is back in the X-Men directing chair I think be taking the opportunity to finish his trilogy. We’re most likely going to see flashbacks, flashforwards or a time travel scenario to see it all meld together.
