And The Oscar Goes To…

So the 82nd Oscars was a long boring show as usual, with few surprises. Hit the jump to see the winners.

And The Hurt Locker won best picture! I may have been the only one outside of Hollywood rooting for it to take down Avatar. Locker, which centered on a bomb-disposal squad, was a great film and it proved that Iraq movies don’t have to be anti-American to be loved, well by the Academy at least since; because lets face it no one else saw it. Locker gave Kathryn Bigelow two Oscars for the night, winning for Best Director and she was also one of four producers who received the statue for Best Picture.

Another highlight for me was Sandra Bullock winning for Best Actress for The Blind Side, she is truly America’s Sweetheart and gave a great acceptance speech.

And I know it was only a technical award for Make-up but I was so happy to see Star Trek get a least one Oscar!

Overall, yes, the Oscars were boring and tedious but it was the most satisfied I’ve felt since The Return of the King sweep the house with 11 wins in 2003.
