Last week we told you Christopher Nolan and his producing wife Emma Thompson were on the hunt for a director for their Superman: Man of Steel revamp and that they had narrowed down a pretty short list. Now it looks like Darren Aronofsky is being added to the list.
24 Frames recently interviewed Aronofsky at the Toronto International Film Festival about his latest film Black Swan starring Natalie Portman. When the conversion turned to the MGM stalled Robocop reboot, Aronofsky said “I think I’m still attached. I don’t know. I haven’t heard from anyone in a while.”
Also in that story, 24 Frames says via an unnamed source that Nolan and David Goyer (Superman screenwriter and co-producer) have had discussions with Aronofsky about the Superman job.
Aronofsky could be a good choice… a very good choice, my concern is that Superman has not traditionally been a dark comic and Aronofsky is definitely in tune with his dark side. So you tell me, what kind of Superman film would he bring?
